Meet the doctor behind the smiles

Dr. Evan Woodford, DMD

Born and raised on the Connecticut shoreline, Dr. Evan Woodford has had dentistry in his life from the very beginning. With his father Scott, who founded Woodford Dental over 40 years ago, and his now-retired orthodontist mother Laura, Dr. Woodford grew up playing in the dental office, eventually helping with landscaping, and even sterilizing instruments as a teenager. His early exposure to the field instilled in him a strong sense of purpose, shaping his compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

He attended Xavier High School in Middletown before moving on to Boston College, where he majored in biology and minored in history as part of the Honors Program. During his time there, Dr. Woodford also captained the Division I sailing team. After college, he dedicated a gap year to serving in AmeriCorps, teaching health education in underserved schools, shelters, and rehabilitation centers in the greater Boston area, a pivotal experience that deepened his commitment to community wellness.

Dr. Woodford earned his dental degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2019 and went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Danbury Hospital. Known for his steady hands and attention to detail, Dr. Woodford thrives on esthetic procedures such as composite bonding, veneers, and same-day crowns. His artistic approach allows him to deliver highly personalized results that restore health and confidence, especially in anterior treatments where form and appearance matter most.

With professional memberships in the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, Shoreline Dental Society, and Seattle Study Club, Dr. Woodford values continuing education and stays at the forefront of modern techniques. He was awarded the 2024 CSDA Rising Star Award and is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Outside the operatory, Dr. Woodford spends his time with his wife Bella and their two young children, Sophie and Simon. You'll often find them exploring local parks and beaches or relaxing at nearby coffee shops. A competitive amateur cyclist, he brings the same level of commitment and perseverance to both his sport and his practice. Above all, Dr. Woodford is focused on building relationships and empowering every patient to understand their care, feel confident in their treatment choices, and smile with ease.

Meet Our Founder

Dr. Scott H. Woodford, DMD

Born and raised in Madison, Dr. Scott Woodford founded Woodford Dental in 1984 with a deep commitment to serving the community that raised him. A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Dr. Woodford earned both his Bachelor's degree and his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from UCONN School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Woodford’s hands-on approach to life extends beyond the dental chair. Whether he’s sailing the shoreline, fishing on the water, or skiing in the winter, he thrives on staying active and engaged with nature. His many talents are not confined to dentistry; he is just as comfortable tackling mechanical repairs, farming, plumbing, or electrical projects, all of which reflect his resourcefulness and love for problem-solving.

Still practicing full-time at Woodford Dental Monday through Thursday, Dr. Woodford combines his experience with an enduring passion for patient care. He continues to lead the practice with a focus on building meaningful relationships with his patients, empowering them to achieve both their dental health and their smile goals.

Technology and comfort that make a difference

At Woodford Dental, we embrace modern technology to deliver treatment that’s faster, more comfortable, and more accurate, without ever compromising the personal touch. Because we work with digital tools and mill many restorations in-office, your care is not only efficient but also beautifully customized to you.

Comforts that help you feel right at home

We offer little details and thoughtful touches that help patients of all ages feel at ease. This dental office feels more like an inviting neighborhood practice, with a tight-knit team and a front porch full of friendly conversation (especially during the warmer months).

Bird feeders outside the windows

Every operatory has a view of our bird feeders, giving patients something peaceful and cheerful to watch during treatment. It’s our favorite way to bring a little nature inside.

Music in every room

Our centrally controlled music creates a welcoming and upbeat environment. Nothing cold or clinical, just the kind of space where laughter and great conversation are part of the daily rhythm.

Tech that gives you better, more illuminating care

We believe modern tools should enhance, not replace, great communication and clinical skill. That’s why we use leading-edge technology to make your visit more convenient and educational, with same-day results and high-resolution imagery that helps you see what we see.

Sirona CEREC same-day crowns

We use in-office CEREC tech to create and place custom ceramic crowns in a single visit. This mill-and-place system means no messy impressions, no temporary crowns, and no follow-up visits for efficient, expertly crafted care when you need it.

Intraoral digital photography

Our cameras let you see exactly what we see, with high-detail close-ups of problem areas. It’s one of the best tools we have for educating patients and explaining why we might recommend a particular treatment.

3D CBCT imaging

Our advanced CBCT (cone-beam computed tomography) scanner creates a full 3D image of your entire jaw, allowing us to see complex anatomy that doesn't show up in traditional x-rays. This means we can better diagnose and treat problems early and with greater accuracy.
